Earlier it was heard that baahubali and Bhaggamathie fame Anushka Shetty rejected Mani Ratnam’ upcoming project Ponniyin Selvan due to lyricist Vairamuthu’s association with the movie. Lyricist Vairamuthu, whose name was brought up by singer Chinmayi during the movement, is apparently on board as lyricist. But the latest statement by the actress in a media interaction tells a different picture behind Anushka Shetty’ exit from Ponniyin Selvan. According to Anushka Shetty, she does not like historical and costume dramas.
Ponniyin Selvan is a fictional period movie, which is based on Kalki Krishnamurthy’ Tamil historical novel of the same name. The leading stars from Hindi, Tamil and Telugu are playing the lead roles in this upcoming historic film.
Anushka Shetty said that she is tired of the big budget historical and costume dramas which require her to don heavy costumes. She added that historical movies requires apply makeup for several hours and even learn martial arts and stunts and shooting in challenging conditions.
It was rumoured that sweety aka Anushka Shetty had demanded Rs 4 Cr as her remuneration for bulk dates for Mani Ratnam’ Ponniyin Selvan. But the production house offered her a maximum of Rs 1 crore as remuneration for the movie. So she rejected the movie.
Earlier Anushka Shetty has been the part of historic movies like Rudhramadevi, Baabubali series, Arundhati.
Ponniyin Selvan is a big budget project which has Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Mohan Babu, Aishwarya Rai Bachan, Keerthy Suresh and Amala Paul, which is directed by Mani Ratnam and produced by Lyca Productions. The makers are planning majority of the film in Thailand. Earlier, Lyca Productions had partnered with Madras Talkies to bankroll the film Ponniyin Selvan . But, they had walked out due to undisclosed reasons. Now, Mani Ratnam is said to be in talks with Jio Studios to produce this venture Ponniyin Selvan.
On the otherside, Anushka Shetty is waiting for the release of Nishabdham.
